While most people will have been inundated with DVDs from Father Christmas, the January sales are now on so it is the perfect time to go out and add to your collection. With plenty of brilliant films released in 2011, you can get into your new TV Bed, put on a DVD and relax after what I’m sure has been a hectic first week back after the break – it certainly has been for us! But what do you choose?

Well, while we can’t go into the very best DVDs of 2011 – we haven’t got all day now have we – we can narrow it down a bit. With the weekend now upon us, and that first week back after the break now done and dusted, I think we all deserve a good laugh, so here are three of our best comedy films for you to watch this weekend.

Aliens, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Best combination ever? Quite possibly, the three come together in ‘Paul’ a sci-fi comedy based around an American road trip in which the British duo, (not the alien), come across a strange being in the road, (the alien). Paul seems to have lost track of his mother ship and as they try to reunite him with it, they become intrigued as to some of his thoughts. Definitely worth a watch if you’re a bit of a sci-fi geek.

For a bit of a girly comedy, then it has to be Bridesmaids. Produced by Judd Apatow and directed by Paul Feig, a group of bridesmaids end up rowing over a friend’s wedding and it really is the sort of film every girl who has ever been a bridesmaid can identify with. For hilarious catfights and rib-rattling laughs, it’s a must watch.

Arguably the best comedy film of the year, is the second installment of The Hangover. Starring the likes of Bradley Cooper and Zach Galiflanakis, it is the ideal partner for a lazy day in the TV Bed watching comedies. The group jet off to Thailand for Stu’s wedding with some hilarious events and consequences. If you watch one comedy in the coming months, make it this one!
