To be honest, there isn’t a much better way of having a lazy day than by being curled up in bed with something funny on the TV. Last week we looked at the best comedy movies for you to enjoy on your TV bed; this week it’s the best stand-up comedy DVDs. Stick one on, and fall out of bed with laughter.
Rather unsurprisingly, the best selling stand-up DVD of 2011 was Peter Kay’s “Tour That Didn’t Tour Tour”. The Bolton funny man was live in London and sold more than 900,000 copies. With his typical mix of adult and general humour, Peter Kay shows just why he is the nation’s favourite comedian. With references to all things typically Northern, the differences in the South and technological developments that have left him baffled, there is something everyone in this top-notch set.
Second on the list is Lee Evans and his ‘Roadrunner’ show, filmed at the O2 Arena in London. One of the country’s best-loved comedians is at his energetic best in his latest show, attacking everything from the physical Tourettes of football goalkeepers, to the Andrew Lloyd Webber horror of the wife ‘putting on her face’. Sublime.
Third on the best sellers list is John Bishop, doing his ‘Sunshine’ tour live in his hometown of Liverpool. The Scouse funny man jokes about his life, the city and his family, in his typical bemused manner. Likeable and hilarious, it’s easy to see why his popularity has sky-rocketed over the past couple of years.
